While I wrote op-ed columns for the Daily News from 1981 to 1985, and have written golf for the Daily News since 1983, this is a whole new gig for a real ancient journalist!
Thus the title of this first entry.
I never had any problem transitioning from rapping on a Royal to creating on a computer. In fact, I welcomed that change with the capacity to “instant edit” instead of lining out all over the place!
While the op-ed page carried the notice that columnists’ opinions were theirs and not necessarily the viewpoint of the paper, the Blog Guidelines note that I should provide that caveat if my blog is “opinionated.” Everybody who knows me, either personally or from my writing, is well aware that I am “opinionated.” Ergo, right up front, the caveat below covers everything I post through Boeing Championship tournament week!
The views and opinion expressed in this blog are mine only and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Newspaper.
Just to give you readers an indication of subject areas I’ll be touching on this week, here’s some forewarning on a couple of events/subjects I’m definitely planning to address:
Monday – From Kelly Plantation, the trials and tribulations of those chasing the “two-spotter” Monday qualifying for Championship Tour events.
Tuesday – From Kelly Plantation, who’s who and what’s what in the Military Appreciation Pro-Am.
Thursday – From Sandestin Burnt Pine, watching the “Golden Oldies” strut their stuff in the Georgia-Pacific Grand Champions Pro-Am.
